Dr. Fannie Alloin

Senior researcher (CNRS) in the LEPMI (Laboratory of electrochemistry and physico-chemistry of material and interface), Grenoble, France

Title: Organic materials for lithium battery

Fannie Alloin is senior researcher (CNRS) in the LEPMI (Laboratory of electrochemistry and physico-chemistry of material and interface). She received her Ph.D Degree from the University of Grenoble, France, in 1993. She graduated from Ing. School of Institut Nationale Polytechnic of Grenoble. Her research activities involve the development of innovative electrolytes and their physicochemical, electrochemical and spectroscopic characterizations with the objective to advance in the mechanisms understanding in order to offer innovative solutions for future electrochemical generators. The research is mainly focused on lithium-ion battery technology, lithium-metal polymer, lithium-sulfur, and magnesium battery. The electrolyte can be an organic solvent, an ionic liquid or a polymer depending on the application. Their intrinsic properties (ionic conduction, solvation property, specific interactions, viscosity, thermal and mechanical properties), the electrode/electrolyte interface properties and the electrochemical mechanisms at the interfaces are the focus of her research. Her activity is also dedicated to organic electrode for lithium battery. She has published 96 papers in international journals, co-authors of 20 patents. She has been main supervisor for 18 PhD students.

Dr. Elizabeth Castillo Martínez

Senior Research Associate at Grey Group, Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, United Kingdom

Title: Understanding the electrochemical performance in organic >C=N- based electrode materials

Elizabeth was born in Madrid, where she did a 5 year degree in chemistry and a PhD in Solid State Chemistry 2008, both at Complutense University, the latter under the supervision of Prof. Alario-Franco on the preparation of new oxide phases under high pressure and Temperature. She moved then to the NanoTech Institute, Univ. of Texas at Dallas, with Prof. Baughman where she investigated the kinetics of polymerization of co-crystallized diacetylenes in the solid state, worked on the development of graphene nanoribbons and where she also started working in the field of Lithium Ion batteries, developing weaveable electrodes for wearable batteries, 2010. More fundamental studies understanding the mechanisms of reaction of different Li-ion battery materials were developed in Cambridge (2011, UK). Since then she dedicated to the development of new materials for Na-ion batteries in CIC Energigune in collaboration with Prof. Michel Armand (2015, Spain). She is now working in the group of Prof. Clare Grey at the University of Cambridge investigating the mechanism of operation of electrode materials for next generation electrochemical energy storage devices through solid state NMR.  Elizabeth has 40 publications (h index 15) and is co-inventor of 3 patents.
