Welcome to Uppsala and Uppsala University

Founded in 1477, Uppsala University is Sweden’s first university. It is a broad research university with well-defined missions: to conduct research and education of the highest quality and to collaborate with the surrounding community in various ways to help make the world a better place. The University is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world.

Today, Uppsala is one of Sweden’s four major cities and is world renowned for its universities, its magnificent cathedral and the legacy of Carl Linnaeus, among other things. Attached you can find a map over the city of Uppsala.
